A member asked:

Antinuclear ab: positive, speckled; titer to follow. ana titer: 1:40 anti-dna (sle): < 4 iu/ml is this a positive blood test for sle?

Not necessarily: All lab results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and your doctor is in the best position to read the lab results as s/he knows all of your health issues. ANA is positive in a many people 50 year of age who do not have sle.

No: An ANA of only 1:40 is usually considered a negative test. In addition, your dna was also negative.
