Do oral cavities effect other bodily systems (other than usual oral pain, etc)?

Yes: Yes chronic inflammation can make platelets more sticky making the person more susceptible to heart attack and stroke. It is associated with lower birth weight babies, diabetics needing more Insulin and alzheimer's disease.

YES!: Cavities = bacterial infections of the tooth. Like any other infections, they can spread to other areas, like the glands under the tongue, salivary glands, sinuses, &, in extreme unfortunate cases, the brain. Saw 2 in residency. The immune system needs to be protecting organs we can't clean twice daily, not our mouths. Oral bacteria spreads to the heart & bones causing infections there too!

Dental cavities?: Do you mean the oral cavity (mouth)? Or teeth cavities? Diseases of the oral cavity can have down stream effects in the body. Minor dental cavities have little down stream effect if repaired before bigger issues develop. Filling materials like metal fillings are proven safe but some people dispute the nontoxic claims of the scientific literature. Find your risk at www.Thedentaltest.Com.
