Very common: Dental cavities are very common. They are caused by bacteria in the mouth which collects on the teeth in the form of plaque. If the plaque is not removed daily the plaque gives off acid which eats away at the enamel of the tooth resulting in a cavity. If not treated early the cavity continues to destroy healthy tooth structure.
