Why take cholesterol medicine at night?

No great reason: Honestly you can take it at any time. Perhaps if you get mild muscle pain, you won't notice in your sleep.

Meds nite: Actually old meds like lovastatin, pravastatin, etc were taken at night so liver processed it more efficiently. Newer meds like Crestor (rosuvastatin) Atorvastatin and lival doesn't matter, also old drugs due fact increased bile output which is how cholesterol excreted from liver often caused nausea or ( precipitated gall stones which are usually cholesterol chrystal s) less felt nite.

No real advantage: Most of the common cholesterol meds can be taken when most convenient. If you are like me, it is easiest to have a routine for important stuff like this, and before bed is easy to remember. Your personal physician may be able to tell you more.

We make most: cholesterol at that time and so drugs to block the process had better be there then. Frankly, this is more the older medicine that didn't last as long in the system and this hasn't been tested with atorvastatin as much. But it is due to when we make the cholesterol (night) NOT anything to do with the dtug.
