Fractions will be needed for the total cholesterol. Traditionally statins and fibrates have been used, with physical activities/exercise along with a low fat/ low cholesterol diet. Definitely not a do it yourself task, your primary care doc should be best to advise properly.

Several diets are mentioned here at HT, (especially DASH) but have found, in general, that Mediterranean diet seems one of the best. Many doctors prefer to use statin drugs, but you might also consider OTC plant stenols and sterols in the preparation Cholestoff, and/or increased fiber in diet. But key recommendation is to see your doctor and work collaboratively, not on your own.
