Depends: Supernumerary just means "extra" tooth, and it can appear anywhere is mouth. Arguably, it could be somewhat more involved if it is way back in mouth, but it is unlikely, in the hands of a skilled oral surgeon, that it should be very long or very painful. You will be anesthetized and so should feel nothing, and pain meds will keep you comfortable afterwards.

Depends on location: Supernumerary, or extra, teeth should be removed because of their potential to harm adjacent teeth and bone, and/or interfere with eruption of the permanent teeth. In the hands of a skilled oral surgical specialist, with the proper anesthetics, pain can be avoided. Length of time for rx depends on location. Ask your dentist for referral.
