Tooth infection dental pain. what to take for this?

Ibuprofen: Ibuprofen 600mg every 6 hrs, assuming you can take ibuprofen. This should alleviate the pain, but you need to be seen by your dentist immediately for possible infection, which may require a root canal or extraction.

Depends: Tooth aches are a symptom that you need professional dental care. Don't treat yourself. Toothache=problem. Meanwhile take whatever it is you take for a headache (advil, aspirin, tylenol).

Ibuprofen : You can take Ibuprofen 600 or 800 mg every six hours with food, or Naproxen (aleve) 400 mg every 12 hours also with food. Best visit your dentist for an exam and a treatment that will take care of the problem for good.

OTC: To get you through the night or till you can get to the dentist, over-the-counter (otc) analgesics such as Ibuprofen or tylenol (acetaminophen) is adequate. Get to your dentist as soon as feasible to address the cause of the infection as analgesics is only a band-aid and not definitive treatment.

Dental visit: Take a trip to visit your dentist. Until you get there, Ibuprofen is your best otc pain medication. Tylenol (acetaminophen) if you can't take ibuprofen. Infection will not get better with pain medication alone and you will need to have the source treated properly. You may also require an antibiotic. Your dentist is the best person to accomplish both of these things.
