Sensitivity: If the tooth is sensitive to hot/cold or sweets, the nerve is alive and you most likely do not have an infection, so don't worry. For the record, you can have a localized infection without a fever or swelling.

Wrong: Infections can have mild chronic symptoms, severe acute symptoms, or both. Only way to determine the exact cause of your sensitivity is to be examined and properly evaluated. If you're concerned, see if you can arrange for a sooner appointment.
