You can ask: You certainly ask, or switch doctors and ask the new one. However, you need to know a pet/ct scan should only be performed when medically necessary, like any imaging test. For a pet/ct, a patient is both injected with a radioactive drug, and irradiated with x-rays from a ct. You should get one only when the medical problem outweighs the risk, which very well may be true in your case.
