Two thoughts: "brain freeze" is often associated with people who are susceptible to migraine, and if he did "pass out", he may have basilar migraine variant, but also, might wonder about an epileptic event. Worthwhile to see your doctor, just to be safe. But most likely, merely an episode of syncope due to a vaso-vagal reaction.
