Perhaps: If you have tmj\tmd symptoms, see a dentist with extensive training and experience in this area to evaluate your case and suggest treatment options. It's much more complicated than just making a night guard for a patient. Night guards may or may not help and each case is different.

Generally not: If it is a hard appliance, it generally makes it worse. Only by a strategically designed soft appliance can relief be obtained. Find a dentist that is very familiar with TMJ treatment - only about 5% of dentist are trained this well.
