Maybe: Allergies- though maybe not the same allergy- can be inherited. You mentioned a "terrible reaction" to rice. If it involved swelling of her tongue, breathing difficulties or similar symptoms, or even if it is a severe rash or hives please have her checked by her physician. She may be a candidate for desensitizing shots.
