Yes: If impacted with wax this needs to be cleared out so as to be able to visualize the ear drum.

Perforation: If there is a suspected ear drum perforation do not allow the ear to be flushed. Cleaning with direct visualizing the ear canal with a microscope is how it should be dealt with.
