A member asked:

My ear has been clogged with wax for days. i had this issue once & had the doc flush it out. i was told to try (extra virgin) olive oil for a few days before going in, but after trying it i have ringing in my ear an hour later. do i try again?

Might be best to try 2-3 drops of hydrogen peroxide in the ear each day before going to Dr: this can soften the wax & likely not cause ringing

I see this daily in my office. I would recommend using an ear wax cleaning system, like Debrox or cerumenex. This will soften the wax. Don't have someone flush your ears because it often pushes the wax down the canal and onto your eardrum, which can be painful. Go visit an ENT and they can clean your ears by using an instrument and a microscope. That is, by far, the safest method of cleaning.
