Feeding newborn: Babies eat up to 8 or 9 times a day. He may be able to take 4 oz every 3 to 4 hr, or he may be used to eating smaller amounts more frequently.

Wake to feed: You have some influence over sleep & feeding if you work with them. Avoid sleep lasting > 2hrs during the day & wake to feed, play until tired & put down to sleep again for no > 2hrs. If you never allow a 3-4 hour day nap, you can avoid flipping the day night pattern. If you push the day feeds he should be relieved to sleep longer at night, weight gain will be normal.
