No NSAIDS: If they are causing hives , then it is not prudent to continue to take that class of medication without physician monitoring. It is possible that the allergic reaction could worsen with continued exposures.

With caution: Chronic idiopathic or spontaneous urticaria (hives) is not due to any medication or food triggers. True IgE mediated allergy to NSAIDs is very rare and is unlikely. There is evidence to suggest that avoiding aspirin and NSAIDs can prevent exacerbation of hives with this condition. Use Tylenol (acetaminophen) as a substitute at low doses. If this fails to control symptoms Celebrex can be used instead.
