Avoid NSAID not Food: Chronic idiopathic or spontaneous urticaria (hives) is not due to any medication or food triggers, therefore avoiding strawberries is not indicated. There is evidence to suggest that avoiding aspirin and NSAID's (such as ibuprofen or Alleve) can prevent exacerbation of hives. Use Tylenol (acetaminophen) as a substitute at low doses. If this fails to control symptoms Celebrex (celecoxib) can be used instead.
