Most non surgical: Most cases of neck or back pain, whether or not due to a disc, are none surgical and managed with drugs and various type of injections, depending on what the origin of the pain is. I.E. Is the pain coming from a disc pressing on a a nerve, or is it due to arthritis in the joints of the spine or muscles. Next step depends on whether you have pinched nerve. This may mean surgery.
