M 57, my tg remains at 400 and i am mostly fruit and whole grain eater.does this means that i run high risk of pancreatic disease?

Maybe: Triglyceride levels under 500 usually prevent pancreatitis, & relationship to heart disease is controversial. Fruit & whole grains are high in carbs, not the best diet for tg control. The best diet for tg control is low in fat & carbs. Other issues that should be checked are metabolic syndrome, Insulin resistance, obesity, hypothyroidism (low thyroid hormone.) consider extended release niacin.

TG and pancreatitis: Pancreatitis can be caused by elevated tg's. You should contact an endocrinologist (e) to deal with your elevated tg's. One of the suggestions to lower your elevated tg level is to consume fewer carbohydrate rich foods and have more protein in your diet. Tg's are becoming to be known as a cardiovascular risk factor and should be lowered to the normal range. Go to an e and get some nutritional help.

No: Whole grains should not increase triglycerides but a lot of certain types of fruit will. Look up the glycemic index to see which are more likely to raise triglycerides. If you have fasted for at least 10 hours before the test, high triglycerides will not come from fats or oils in your diet, mainly from the carbs. Eat more protein and good fats and lower glycemic fruit.
