A member asked:

Can pancreatic cancer run in the family?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

YES: Yes, but rarely. Only about 10% of pancreatic cancers are associated with a hereditary component. For example: hereditary breast ovarian syndrome with mutations in the brca2 gene, hereditary non-poliposis colorectal cancer (hnpcc) and familial pancreatitis.
