Can hiv/aids cause acute bronchitis?

AIDS: Once your CD4 counts fall below 200/ml due to HIV infection you are susceptible to many conditions you might otherwise never encounter. It is possible that acute bronchitis (almost always viral) could occur, but it is not 'caused' by hiv. Also you could be more susceptible to bordetella pertussis, the major bacterial cause of bronchitis.

No: The HIV virus itself will not cause acute bronchitis. Now a suppressed immune system may make it more likely to develop or be more severe than usual..But in general terms no.
