Why do i occasionally have sharp pains in the left half of my chest around where my heart would be?

More info: Sharp pain could be anything. Please explain the precipitated factor, duration, any other symptoms with it and alleviating factor. A sharp pain that is brief with no exertion is unlikly coronary pain.
