Get another DDS: Cavities need to be taken care of unless the tooth is very mobile and ready to fall out. If your family dentist can't handle your 3 year old and she has a cavity, find a pedodontist (children's specialist) who can care for your child before the cavity causes pain and needs more involved treatment.

Take her to a : Pediatric dentist for treatment & to review her eating habits; e.g., does she walk around with a sippy cup full of sugary liquid that she sips off & on all day? Does she " graze" or have 2 scheduled snacks & 3 sit-down family meals at the table? Do you help her brush her teeth after eating or drinking milk or juice & at bedtime? Does she have access to " junk food" & soda pop?

Age is not an issue: If your child needs dental work, then seek attention. If your current dentist is not comfortable working on toddlers, then ask for a referral to a pediatric dentist. You will never be wrong if you place your childs' needs first. Period! conversely, don't force the child to be seen by someone who is not qualified to work with children. It only takes one bad appointment to create a lifetime of fear.
