Big toe pain hurts on side of toe on top of nail if i touch it it hurts is it due to recently foot fractured or is it something else going on?

Well....: What did you fracture? The end bone in the big toe may have been injured. We're x-rays taken ? You may just have an ingrown nail

Could be anything: Where was the fracture? Any history of gout?

X-ray: If you're concerned, i'd get an x-ray. Hard-soled shoe for a few weeks is the treatment if broken and non-displaced.

Possibly: Especially if the bone fractured was the toe, or possibly from an ingrown toenail or possibly from a subungual exostosis is which is a spur under the nail.

Consult your doctor: Pain could be due to different reasons. Causes may include: trauma (fracture, ligamentous tear, arthritis), infection, metabolic conditions (gout) , musculoskeletal or biomechanical abnormality, or a neurologic conditions (neuropathy). A history and physical exam and possibly laboratory and radiology exams could determine the cause. See your doctor and voice your concerns.
