Stomach acid: There are many organs between your ribs and belly button. The tightness and pain could indicate acid-peptic disorder, especially if it occurs between meals. You may try pepcid, zantac, (ranitidine) prilosec, prevacid, tums, or rolaids. If these acid-reducing medicines don't help, then you may need to be checked out by your fp for other conditions (gall bladder, pancreas, kidney stone).
