A member asked:

Are pcp's only trained to treat really old serious sick people or can they treat young people who are functioning suboptimally due to health reasons?

Interests vary: Since older folks comprise a very high percentage of the "sick" adult population, docs get a lot more exposure to them in their training than they do to younger, healthier folks. Some pcp's seem to gravitate more towards the issues of young adults than others.
