Is it okay to take 1300 mg of acetaminophen every 6 hours for pain from a sprained wrist?

No.: The recommendations for tylenol (acetaminophen) dosing have been ratcheted down in recent years. In the 90s, we dosed fairly freely by patient weight. In the 2000s, the limit was 4000mg/day. Now, the talk is that 3000mg per day is a better maximum. For a sprained wrist, however, i would suggest advil 600-800mg 3x/day - you want the anti-inflammatory response for your sprain.

Acetaminophen: It is okay on a very short term basis. Try to cut back as the pain subsides.
