White coating?: Most often we see hardened masses that can be as small as a head of a pin or as large as a golf ball. The mass can really smell badly, and can be gently teased out when small. They are commonly known as tonsilloliths. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/tonsillolith coatings are more difficult to diagnose. A picture can be useful but we don't want you to swallow your camera. See a dentist or ent.

Food trap: You probably get food matter stuck there and that is what you are seeing. Some people learn to clean the tonsils. I would definitely have a dentist or ENT check it out and make sure that it looks fine.
