The most common: Diagnosis is a young woman would be iron deficiency due to heavy periods. This is often associated with a highish platelet count.

Depends: It depends on how high. Also if only 1 reading, may not be significant. It needs to be repeated but also you need to have a good physical exam done as well. Do not be alarmed by 1 reading. How high were the levels?
