Unknown risks: At this time the safety of this medication is unknown as there are no studies regarding it's use during pregnancy. It's fda category c which means t it should only be used if the benefits outweigh the unknown risks. For patients with severe bowel disease such as ibs it is often continued as the benefits outweigh the unknown risks. This will need to be decided by you and your doctor.
