Perhaps: A low grade viral infection can cause an elevation of body temperature for up to five days, with no other symptoms. If the temperature is still elevated in a few days it would make sense to have the baby examined. I don't think the temperature elevation is being caused by the teething.

Probably a virus: At 8 1/2 months old they teeth still. When teething their resistance is down and they are more prone to pick up illnesses, especially viruses. Without other symptoms at this time it probably is a virus. If you are worried there is never harm in getting baby checked by your doctor. Fevers in that range are common for babies that age with most viral infections but should break in 3-5 days.
