Doubtful: When you are sick with tonsillitis, there is an infection in the tonsils and the infection and inflammation can involve the entire throat to some extent. You might get some temporary vocal cord swelling which would affect your voice, but it should get better gradually. Take it easy on your voice, rest it often, avoid shouting and whispering, and give it a couple weeks. If it persists, see ENT md.
