A member asked:

I have severe tonsillitis. i am a professional singer. will a tonsillectomy affect my voice in any way?

No: Tonsillectomy will not only cure your infections but may increase the bucco-pharyngeal resonator space and possibly actually enhance your overtones and tessitura. I have operated on many classical singers and they have not had any change in their voice qualities. However, make sure that the surgery is performed by a competent ENT doctor.
