A lot but worth it: Dentures are plastic plates that sit on the gums and give the appearance of having teeth but function nothing like real teeth. Implants simulate the roots of individual teeth in the bone, require surgery, and resemble and function very similarly to real teeth when finished. Hence, implants are more costly than dentures, usually by quite a bit. Cost difference will vary based on a dentist's fees.

Much more: But for your health and over the period of time you will be using them, implants will be worth every penny for a young woman to need dentures at age 39? -- when you get a set of dentures, that will not be your only set, but over the years of use, you will develop significant bone loss, requiring a new set(s) of dentures. Ultimately, you will probably develop pain and have a difficult time eating.

A lot: In my practice a denture is about the same cost as one implant. Dentures are an inexpensive way to replace teeth that are missing but they don't function or feel like real teeth. Implants do feel, and function like real teeth. Think of it like replacing an amputated leg. A wooden leg would be inexpensive, but feel like a stump. A high-tech limb would be more like a real leg, but cost more.

Significantly more: Dental implant treatment is the best treatment available. The treatment is far superior to dentures and that is why it is more expensive. It is an investment to live a better and fuller life. Who wants to wear plastic teeth that needs to be taken in and out the mouth many times a day?

Depends: The investment between implants and dentures is a matter of the prosthesis. As few as two implants on the lower can drastically improve retention of a denture. If the prosthesis is fixed in to place, the fee will be much higher. Also, the fee will depend on how many implants are needed for your desired goals. Keep smiling.

Quite a bit more: Dentures are the least expensive way of replacing missing teeth. Utilizing implants adds quite a bit more. Maybe about 10 times more.

"More?": My question is what do you mean by "more." if "more" is in dollars.... Yes dental implants absolutely cost more in the short term and possibly break even in the long term. If it is in function, dental implants are 1000 time more functional than dentures. The difference between a denture and an implant or an implant supported denture is the difference between a real leg and a peg leg. Arrrrgh!
