Ask your MD: You should never increase the dose of a medication, especially a narcotic like dilaudid, without speaking to the prescribing md. The first reason is safety, but also don't forget that pain which has suddenly become less controlled is an issue your md needs to know about. Don't leave your doc in the dark!

No such thing: I would suggest that you speak with your doctor about taking this medication. Just an fyi, Dilaudid is about 7.5-8x stronger than morphine, so without proper guidance it would be hard to say what you need. For osteoarthritis flare i would suggest either a Medrol (methylprednisolone) dose pack or strong anti-inflammatory like toradol instead of pain med.
