Pain in the Bu????: It is not all that unusual to have some throbbing and some pain the day after bunion surgery. Elevating the foot and taking a pain reliever will usually relieve the problem. Call your surgeon if you get no relief as he may want to check the bandage.

Call your doctor: This would be fairly normal the day after surgery but if you feel it is a problem, call your doctor.

Rest and relax: Immediately after bunion surgery your best bet would be to rest and elevate your feet. Post operative pain will be less if you limit the swelling by elevating the feet. Keep the bandage dry and clean and follow you doctors' instructions. If the pain and throbbing does not improve with elevation and pain medication contact your surgeon and get their advice.

Pain: Postoperative pain should be controlled with prescribed medication. If it is not see your surgeon as the dressing or even a suture or sutures may be tight.
