See your Dentist: See the dentist or oral surgeon who extracted the tooth for a thorough evaluation. Without seeing the problem, it is hard to determine if you are have normal or unusual symptoms. Depending on the severity of the problem, post-operative sensitivity or pain are normal events. Bruising to the adjacent area may also occur.

Pain, swelling and : Pain, swelling , and bleeding are normal following surgery. Bruising is also present sometimes. The white area around and inside the extraction site is usually normal. Indicating healing blood clot. Depending on how difficult your extraction, symptoms should gradually decrease after the 3rd post operative day. If pain is progressively worse, follow up with dentist. Could be dry socket or infection.

Post Extraction Pain: To some extent these are still failry normal. You will swell for about 72 hours after and extraction and it take 6-8 weeks for full healing if you are healthy. If it also has a foul odor and taste, and you have a fever you could also be developing a dry socket (especially if you are a smoker). You can always return to the dentist that removed the tooth for a follow-up exam.
