Nickel Alternatives: It is not clear to me if you are speaking of medical applications or jewelry or other nickel exposures. The diagnosis of nickel allergy is best made by patch testing on the skin. Chromium frequently causes contact allergy and can be contaminated with nickel. Steel also contains nickel. Titanium allergy is virtually non-existent and it can be a good substitute for stainless steel at times.
