Hematemesis: Throwing up blood (hematmesis) is always a serious matter and should be followed up immediately with your doctor. Alcohol can irritate and erode the lining of your stomach and cause some bleeding, but significant amounts of blood in the vomitus need to be investigated a soon as possible.
