Pancreatitis: Pancreatitis is often a very painful condition requiring hospitalization and IV pain meds. Gallstones, and not sludge can be a common cause as can excessive alcohol consumption.

Pancreatitis: The treatment will be determined by the cause of the pancreatitis. If only sludge is found and there are on other potential causes then a cholecystectomy (removal of the gallbladder) would be the best definitive treatment.
