Rehabilitation: Many pts can recover or improve with physical therapy. Carefully proper use of medications becomes even more important and a change or increase in level of assisted living is probably indicated. Very sorry for your family.

Poor prognosis: 93yrs with stroke obviously is poor prognosis but depending on premorbid functional status rehab may help.

Major denial 3 ways:: 1. Blaming salty food is a mistake. The elderly have strokes. It just happens. 2. Be happy that your aunt did so well so long. Nobody lives forever. 3. A family that's surprised when an elderly member with a stroke makes "life hard on family" isn't in touch with reality. You're by no means the only family with this problem. There are countless others. Learning about them may help your family.
