A member asked:

My mother, 81, suffered a "brain stroke" during angioplasty when an artery burst. her swallow function is impaired for about a year now (she is on a rt). any treatment in such cases - or do we only hope for the other neurons to take up the function?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Subsequent to brain injury, spontaneous healing mostly is completed by 12-18 months. This process becomes less complete as humans age. Would suspect at this point, unlikely to witness any substantial transition. Might check with speech therapy to objectify status.
