Confusing question: Group b strep is a common cause of newborn blood poisoning & pneumonia syndrome but rarely trouble to anyone else. The germ can travel in the fluids at birth into babies nose & lungs & cause immediate or delayed (up to 6-'s 8 wks) symptoms. It occasionally causes uti's in females & is occasionally found in stool cultures. I have never seen or treated a gbs problem in any kid over 2 months old.
