Strep throat: Classically strep throat does not cause a cough. It's possible you have/ had a viral upper respiratory infection. These usually resolve within 1- 2 weeks.

Not clear: Was strep throat confirmed with either a rapid test or culture? If so, the most likely explanation is underlying lung disease (like asthma); secondary pneumonia is also a possibility. Sounds like your cough has been around for about 19 days, if it was viral it should have resolved by now. Time to either call or go back to your doctor. Best of luck!

Cough rare in Strep: Cough is usally not present with strep throat. However a cough following any upper respiratory infection can last a few weeks. If it is associated with shortness of breath, blood in the sputum, persistent fevers, weight loss or is worsening it should be further evaluated
