Parotitis is an inflammation of one or both parotid glands. There are a number of causes including infection (both bacterial and viral), autoimmune (sjogren syndrome), obstructing stone or other causes of blockage, as well as sarcoidosis among many other less common causes. Probably not: In japan they showed it could happen, but with 40% peroxide. It's illegal in the usa, here we only get up to 3-5%
