Im switching from pradaxa to warfarin because of the high cost of pradaxa and the fact that no antidote exists. good move or not?

Yes: Cost are always a part of our decision. It is better to take a medicine you need than not take one at all. Coumadin (warfarin) has been around for years and is well proven to thin your blood. And yes you can reverse it if needed. Should be a dagger move as long as level is monitored on coumadin (warfarin).

Yes: For all the reasons you already mentioned. Monitoring of your protime is much easier now too with the newer recommendations published in chest last year. But its nice to know Pradaxa is out there for those patients who cannot take coumadin (warfarin).
