See your dentist: All depends on the condition of the tooth. If the tooth can be treated then a root canal may be needed. If not then the only option may be to remove the tooth. So see your dentist and he/she can help you determine this.

Two: Go to the er or make an appointment to see your dentist. Tooth infections don't go away on their own, they get worse. They also make you miserable.

Get help: Any tooth infection warrants immediate treatment. Untreated infections can spread throughout your body and cause serious complications. They can even lead to life threatening situations. Take some otc pain medication and get in to see a dentist as soon as possible. Your dentist will evaluate the tooth and discuss what options you have. Save the tooth if possible.

Dental Treatment: is the only option for your dental care. Take NSAIDs or Tylenol (acetaminophen) OTC and see your dentist ASAP for evaluation, x-rays and proper treatment.
