A member asked:

I got my wisdom tooth taken out about a month ago. the dentist said i had a bad infection and pulled white stuff out during removal. i noticed that i have white stuff where the tooth was- is that normal? random pain, not everyday. not severe though?

White stuff could be different things like: pus or just dead tissue. If the tooth has been removed and you have had adequate course of antibiotics, allow it to heal and usually it takes about two to four weeks for healing; so be patient. The dead tissue would slough off by itself and if there is pus it would drain out since the tooth was removed.

Sorry, "white stuff" is not an accurate description. The general dentist specialist Oral Surgeon that removed your wisdom tooth is responsible for hyoid post-surgical care. Return to your practitioner with a written list of your questions and let him/her visualize the extraction site.
