Yes: Clindamycin is a very common antibiotic for oral infecitons and it does work well but know that all antibiotics take some time to start to take affect. The time frame is usually a couple days before you get much relief but then it usually goes quickly. See your provider if you have other questions and for a possible pain med as well.

No way to tell: Without physically examining you or your culture and sensitivity report, one can't tell u anything for sure. Cleric in will help many aerobic and anaerobic bacterial infections. Ask your surgeon.

It should but..: Infections associated with wisdom are usually resolved once the offending tooth is removed and the patient takes an appropriate antibiotic. However, the antibiotic needs to be taken as directed for a sufficient length of time. There are no guarantees and occasionally the dosage has to be increased or a different one prescribed, or the area cleaned out again. Your dentist should monitor this!

You trusted the Oral Surgeon to do surgery. Shouldn't you also trust him/her to provide appropriate medicines? Yes, the antibiotic prescribed will reduce spread infection, but if you have an abscessed tooth it will also require root canal treatment ASAP.
