SSRIs: First line meds for dep. Today are the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (ssris). They can vary a bit in terms of half-life, how ofen you must take them and some can have additonal impact on Dopamine and norepinepherine at different doses, so if a simle trial fails, consulting with a good psychiatrist before concluding it is not working is wise. Mao inhibitors, wellbutrin (bupropion) ssnris also.
